As excited as I was for the bold weather to set it, now that it has ravaged my skin and left me with dry dry dry skin that I can’t seem to moisturize enough—ugh, enough! I’m ready for spring. And short sleeves! And weather that allows for for sandals!

12 Cute Winter Hats You Need Right Now
Oh my goodness, it is cooold out side, y’all! OK, maybe not in L.A., but in other cities (looking at you, Atlanta). But decent weather here doesn’t mean I don’t love cold-weather clothes! If only I could buy a matching hat for my dog (because I would do that…that’s me, I’m that girl)…

New Year, New Wardrobe
Give yourselves a pat on the back guys, because, congrats—we made it through the holidays and to the new year with our sanity firmly in tact (eh, sure).
I love to start the new year fresh. After setting a bunch of goals for 2014, my favorite way to stay motivated is to clean out the old clothes I don’t wear anymore and re-build with a wardrobe that inspires a new routine. If you’re rebooting your wardrobe too, you’ll need these staples (buying info here):
1. Accessories
Stand out with a chunky necklace—this year, the chunkier (and wilder), the better.
2. A Jacket, a Sweater, a Blouse
Each of these make for a versatile wardrobe, especially when you rotate them with…
3. Jeans, Jeans and Jeans
Worry about pants later—right now, you need to get comfy in denim: black jeans, boyfriend jeans and dress-up jeans (for a night on the town that doesn’t require a dress).
4. Boots!
While it’s still cold out, enjoy the best part of cold weather and strap on a pair of heeled boots. Or, to stay a bit more comfy, try quilted riding boots.
5. Last But Not Least: The Bag
Do I really need to give you a reason to buy a new purse?

Great Gifting: S’Adonner Candles
Most people light candles during a bath or before bed at night, but I like to wake up to a fresh, invigorating scent that instantly perks up my morning. Since I don’t drink coffee (for now…we’ll see what happens. I’m trying!), the next best thing are these scented candles by S’Adonner.
Bamboo for Breakfast has notes of mandarin, grapefruit, lemon, jasmine and eucalyptus. They have three other scents (Brise de Mer, Middle Eastern Delight and Vintage) that I highly recommend, and at $27, they make the perfect gift for a party hostess, your bestie, your sister—pretty much anyone!
Great Gifting: Hannah Max Baking Crunch Cookie Chips
Happy holidays, lovely readers! I’m so excited for the week before Christmas, and not just for the holiday cheer—all this week, we’ll be bringing you great gift ideas for your family and friends.
The first up is a sweet stocking stuffer that pairs perfectly with milk—or even better, a treat for your little ones to set out for Santa’s arrival: Hannah Max Baking Crunchy Cookie Chips. They’re scrumptious! And about as healthy as a yummy cookie can be: They have no trans fats, no artificial flavors, no additives and no GMOs.
These crispy cookies come in five gobble-’em-up flavors: chocolate chip, cinnamon sugar, sea salted peanut butter, dark chocolate chip and original. I suggest snuggling by the fire and trying them all!
Beauty Buy: Amarté Natural Finish BB Cream
Raise your hand if you don’t like wearing foundation (me!). It’s heavy and gloppy and sometimes just too obvious. But wait—I just tried Amarté Natural Finish BB Cream. It gives you the same coverage as a foundation, but it’s so, so light. It’s like it was whipped, which gives you a super smooth application. It just glides right on, AND I haven’t even told you the best part.
So, you already know that I’m a huge, huge advocate of wearing sunscreen on a daily basis. And I do—it’s just that most lotions or makeup products that incorporate sun protection only go up to SPF 15. And that’s not enough: The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that you wear at least SPF 30 daily. And if you’re going to run around doing outdoor activities, then wear SPF 50. Well, Amarte has SPF 36, which is definitely enough for daily use and it doesn’t smell like sunscreen or feel thick like other high-enough SPF foundations. Just try it, I promise, you’ll be hooked.

Celebrate the Season in Silver & Gold
Christmas parties! New Year’s parties! And a few birthdays! Don’t you love this time of year? Not just because you get to snuggle in with your friends and family for holiday cheer and yummy eggnog (well, some of us love it), but also because that means shopping. Yes, shopping for your loved ones—but it doesn’t hurt to snag yourself a new dress for the new year, now does it? For details on the items below, visit Polyvore.
Beauty Buy: Repêchage Algo Mist
I’m in love with hot yoga. Seriously: I’m in LOVE with hot yoga. There’s something about sweating out all the toxins and stress that have built up during the day. Plus, stretching in 100 degree-plus heat makes your muscles so pliable and bendy. You just feel refreshed and delicious afterward.
But even better? Getting into my car after stepping out of a humid, almost-dripping room and spraying my face and skin with this mist. The Repêchage Algo Mist Hydrating Seaweed Facial Spray has amino acids, Vitamin C and Ginko Biloba extract—it feels like a summer breeze, especially after a tough, super-sweaty workout. Of course, you can use it anytime, it doesn’t have to be just for your post-workout routine (but I highly recommend it).
Simply Stylist Sessions with Kitson’s Courtney Saavedra, Pursuit of Shoes, WWD’s Khanh Tran and Mena Suvari
Simply Stylist hosted yet another fabulous event, this time at Kitson on Melrose. Speaking on the panel were actress Mena Suvari in an amazing leather bustier and Chanel necklace; Pursuit of Shoes blogger Ashley Torres, who dispensed advice about following a career path you want instead of one you feel like you must travel (she left the world of accounting to pursue fashion); WWD writer Khanh Tran, who pointed out that what journalists do in today’s digital world isn’t different from what we’ve always done—it’s the execution that has changed (e.g. finding sources through Twitter); and Kitson’s Director of Operations Courtney Saavedra, who emphasized the importance of networking for your career. It was an engaging and entertaining discussion that ended with champagne and yummy snacks.
